Renovation Real Talk – April 2018

A  PROJECT WE COMPLETED ON CENTRAL PARK WEST

DETAIL RENOVATIONS combined two apartments, and we were tasked with creating a guest bedroom that could have multiple usage, while still preserving the best view of the park.

In the living space of this project, the owners wanted to be able to capture the best view of the park.  But they also wanted a guest room, but not all the time.

We built a compact but useful  wall divider, which is hidden in a closet.  It pulls  out of the closet on a hafele track and creates a private space for guests. A hidden bed by Resource Furniture pulls down in a unique  way, while preserving the décor space with shelves above it, so nothing has to be moved.  And when not in use, the  living space is restored easily.

Here are some renovation tips that might be of interest, all contained within this project:

If you are struggling with where to place a refrigerator in a kitchen with limited floor space, you can use a hidden refrigerator/freezer under counter, which solves the problem nicely.

In the kitchen, for the backsplash, large field tiles  24 x 14” from Porcelanosa tiles with natural features  looks like tiny mosaic tiles.  An interesting alternative.

Perfect for apartment dwellers, a fireplace that will warm up any space.  We created a custom fire-box with ventless EcoSmart insert that uses ethanol.  The fire-box has a burn time of four hours.
